I think there might also be some role for scale here, as the Lilly deal is worth $1bn, while Meta (which is also a massive cash generator) is spending more than 30% of its revenues in deploying AI infrastructure. So they have cash, yes, but they’re burning it at a scale that is now generating concerns with investors, given the uncertainty / long-term character of returns.
